Cookie policy

Last updated: October 24, 2026

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on thehomecoffeebar.com. Today the site sets analytics cookies from Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, plus occasional security cookies from our host, Cloudflare. It sets no advertising cookies. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They can remember a setting, keep a site secure or, in the case of advertising cookies, recognize a browser across visits. “Similar technologies” include local storage, pixels and tags, which work in comparable ways. In this policy, “cookies” covers all of them.

  • First-party cookies are set by the site you're visiting. Third-party cookies are set by another company, such as an ad network.
  • Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.
  • Strictly necessary cookies are needed for the site to work or stay secure and don't need consent. Other cookies, such as advertising cookies, need your consent where the law requires it.

Cookies we use now

We use two analytics tools: Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity. They set the analytics cookies in the table below so we can count visits and see how readers use our guides. We don't use advertising cookies yet, our newsletter forms are plain forms, and our “Save to Pinterest” buttons are plain links.

Our host, Cloudflare, may also set the strictly necessary cookies in the table, but only when one of its security features is triggered.

Cookies that may be set today
NameProviderPurposeDuration
__cf_bmCloudflareStrictly necessary. Helps tell people from bad bots so the site stays online. Set only when Cloudflare bot protection is active. Encrypted; not used to track you across sites.30 minutes of inactivity
cf_clearanceCloudflareStrictly necessary. Remembers that your browser passed a Cloudflare security check, so you aren’t asked again on every page. Set only if a check is shown.Challenge window set in Cloudflare (30 minutes by default)
_ga, _ga_MRSKZEE8ZBGoogle Analytics 4Analytics. Counts visits, pages viewed and clicks on product links, so we know which guides help readers. Not used for advertising.Up to 2 years
_clck, _clsk, CLIDMicrosoft ClarityAnalytics. Records anonymized clicks and scrolling (with text inputs masked) so we can see where a page is confusing._clck 1 year, _clsk 1 day, CLID 1 year
_cfuvidCloudflareStrictly necessary. Lets Cloudflare’s rate limiting tell apart visitors who share one IP address. Set only if that rule is turned on.Browser session

Cloudflare describes these cookies in its cookie documentation. Because they protect the site from attacks, they can't be switched off from our side, but you can block them in your browser. If you do, you may be shown a security check more often.

Cookies on sites we link to

Some links take you to another company's website, where that company sets its own cookies under its own policy:

  • Amazon and other retailers. When you click an affiliate link, the retailer may set a cookie on its site that credits a qualifying purchase to The Home Coffee Bar. That's how we earn a commission. It costs you nothing, and we never see your name or what else you buy. Amazon explains its cookies in the Amazon.com Cookies Notice, found in its help pages.
  • Kit. When you submit a newsletter form, your details go to our email provider, Kit, and you may land on a Kit confirmation page that uses Kit's cookies. See the Kit privacy policy.
  • Pinterest. When you click a Save to Pinterest button, Pinterest opens in a new tab and its cookies apply. See Pinterest's cookie policy.

Cookies we will add later

We plan to show display ads in the future. When we start showing ads, the cookies below will be added. We'll update this page with the exact cookie names, providers and durations before they go live.

When ads go live:

  • visitors in the EEA, the UK and other places that require consent will be asked first, and only strictly necessary cookies will be set until they agree;
  • US visitors can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and targeted advertising through a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” or “Your Privacy Choices” link;
  • a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser will be honored as that opt-out;
  • you'll be able to change your choices at any time from a link in the site footer.

How to control cookies

You can see, block and delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may cause some sites to work less well. Instructions for common browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Safari on Mac and Safari on iPhone and iPad
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge

To send a Global Privacy Control signal, use a browser or extension that supports it; see globalprivacycontrol.org. To opt out of interest-based ads from many ad companies at once, visit the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page or, in Europe, Your Online Choices.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy whenever the cookies on the site change, and always before ads or analytics that use cookies go live. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the latest version.
